At Bears for Humanity, our mission at Bears for Humanity is to manufacture safe and Eco-friendly organic products, protect our environment, create fair living wage jobs, and give back to causes for children, animals and the environment. One of our three guiding principles is our buy one, give one model. This means that for every bear and plushie bought from us, we give another one to a child in need. 

Why Buy One, Give One?

This method has been part of the way we work since day one. When we started this company we thought about what we wanted to accomplish very carefully. One, we wanted to create safe, organic toys for children that simply weren’t available anywhere else. We also wanted to make sure we were supporting our local community by giving jobs to the chronically underemployed. That is why Bears For Humanity bears are manufactured in California, where we create over 200 jobs for women in the Welfare-to-Work program. 

The last important piece to this is that we wanted to give to children. We want to spread joy to children⸺especially to those who need an extra pick me up. In the United States, there are 3 million children living below the poverty line, 1 million in foster care, and over 500,000 without permanent homes. Children suffering from the effects of poverty or sickness could always use a special friend to hug and love. We want to uplift kids who might not be feeling their best and remind them that they are special and cared about. 

Who Receives our Bears?

We donate our bears through our special network of charities and giving partners, such as Toys for Tots, Children’s Miracle Network, and Save the Children. With your help, we have donated over $1,000,000 worth of bears and plushies so far. 

Here are some of the places where our organic, safe plushies have warmed hearts:

• After the devastating Camp Fire ripped through Paradise, California, we went onsite with The Red Cross to hand out bears to children and adults whose homes and livelihoods had been completely destroyed. At a time when these people were mourning and in distress, we put smiles on their faces with bear hugs. 
• At Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital, we donate bears that are given to children patients as a way to comfort them. The doctors and nurses also use the bears as educational tools when explaining procedures to children in order to make it less scary. 
• With Toys for Tots in California, we helped make Christmas a little bit merrier for families in the underprivileged community by donating 38 boxes of plushies. We love working with Toys for Tots because they are children centric, like us.
