Coronavirus is a type of virus. There are different kinds of Coronaviruses. The recent outbreak of Coronavirus is called COVID-19. COVID-19 started in China. All roads lead to China with COVID-19.

What is COVID-19? COVID-19 is an infectious disease that appeared in Wuhan, a city in China, in December 2019. The virus is linked to the seafood market in Wuhan, China. The deadly virus originated from an animal source. COVID-19 is passed from person to person. According to World Health Organization, “In humans, several coronaviruses are known to cause respiratory infections ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). The most recently discovered coronavirus causes coronavirus disease COVID-19.”.

What does the Coronavirus have anything to do with Plush toys, gifts, and apparel made in China? Everything. Plush toys, gifts and fast fashion apparel made in China are low cost, harmful and made from synthetic polyester materials. Synthetic materials are a haven for germs, bacteria, and viruses. When you buy plush toys made in China for someone you love, you take the risk of exposing them to many known and unknown viruses. The lure of low-cost cheap products from China is a sneeze away from contracting Coronavirus.

All consumers have the right to safe products. Consumers have the right to know how the products are made, where they are made, safety testing, and a guarantee that the products being sold are not exposed to Coronavirus. How can a consumer know if a factory worker in China with the Coronavirus did not sneeze while making or packaging the product sold by retailers in the United States? As a consumer, I personally believe that big and small retailers focus on profits. There are exceptions, though far and few.

In the United States, retailers are indemnified by the manufacturers of the product for any liabilities that may arise from the use of the product. In this way, the retailer is absolved of any responsibilities. The manufacturer of the product then passes the blame and liability to a local Chinese manufacturer.  Chinese manufacturers do not care about American consumers.  They care about money and profits.  Once their products are shipped from the port in Shenzen China, they are paid. The person who is hurt the most is innocent consumers and our loved ones who pay the price with health-related issues.

These are the reasons for consumers to adopt an organic lifestyle. If you are in the market to purchase plush gifts for your loved ones, look for safe organic cotton materials. Look for products ethically made in countries other than China. Research and verify the company that makes the products and their history. This may mean a bit more work for you as a consumer, but every minute spent is worth the life of your loved ones who will cuddle and play with the plush gift.

As the Founder of Bears for Humanity, I only want the safest and ethically sourced products for my twins, Arianna and Rohan. As a mother, I want the best for my children. Sometimes, the best safe products are a bit more expensive than the low-cost products made in China. This is why I started Bears for Humanity. Bears for Humanity is a nonprofit organization. We make safe certified organic plush toys, gifts, and apparel souvenirs. With every purchase, we give a teddy bear to a child in need in the USA. Thank you for being our customer. God Bless all.
